Halal Meat Store Shut Down After Slaughter Of Young Cow In Home Depot Parking Lot

The animal had escaped from the meat store across the street on Saturday, July 13 and ran to the parking lot of Home Depot in Bloomfield. 

The animal and other live animals were at the Saba meat store which is a halal meat store that prepares products observing Islamic law, reports NBC Connecticut.

Men from Saba followed the escaped cow, one with a bow and arrow,  according to NBC Connecticut.

One of the men shot at the cow, according to police on the scene but missed it. Then another man took out a knife while the cow was behind the Home Depot. 

Three men took hold of the cow and one cut its throat in public, according to police, NBC Connecticut reports.

Multiple agencies investigated the store after the incident, prompting them to close it for various violations.
